Santa’s Sewing Workshop

sewingclass A gift to you from us at Charity Wings Art Center! In-person sewing lessons to help build your skills!

Sewing is creative, but it is also a technical skill - with the right knowledge, you can cut down  your frustration level and make sure that the projects you start get done right the first time! This special three week course (one lesson per week, pick Sunday or Tuesday) will cover a variety of topics and skills popular in today’s sewing project trends. Week one deals with the basics of sewing in context (a great refresher even for intermediate sewers); week two adds onto this knowledge base with intermediate skills (taking week one first is recommended if you wish to register for week two); week three is all things hand-stitched; week four tackles machine-sewn embellishments and dimension techniques.

DATES:
Week One: Sunday 24 November, Tuesday 26 November, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Week Two: Sunday 1 December, Tuesday 3 December, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Week Three: Sunday 8 December, Tuesday 10 December, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

PRICING:
Per day or full session, all six days. (The Tuesday lesson is a repeat of Sunday’s lesson.)
Per day: $20 for Silver Wings members, $25 for Starter Wings members, $30 for non-members.
All six days: $60 for Silver Wings members, $80 for Starter Wings members, $100 for non-members

We Adopted a Family! Christmas 2013

xmastree3

This is the beautiful family we helped last year. They loved all the gifts we were able to collect! And we raised enough to give the mom a really nice gift card to Target as well!

Once again this year the Charity Wings Art Center has adopted a family through the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of San Marcos.  And, we’re asking you to join us and help us to help them!  If you’re donating gifts, please make sure that they are wrapped and labeled with the name of the recipient.  The deadline for your donations to reach us is December 5th.

Please bring or ship them to:
Charity Wings Art Center, 287 Industrial Street, San Marcos, CA 92078

If you’d rather donate money that we can use towards gifts and gift cards for the family, please use the Paypal button below.

This is a family of four: mother, father, and two little girls, ages 8 and 5.  This year has been especially tough for them.  Finding work has been quite difficult for them and currently the father only works a few days a week.  The 8 year old is described as being smart, honest, and always putting others before herself.  She understands that her family is working as hard as they can to provide for her and she never complains about the things she doesn’t have.

General needs for the family:  They don’t have a Christmas tree.  The 5 year is in need of a twin sized bed.  They need towels, pots and pans, an iron, an ironing board, a dryer, and a dresser.  Christmas gifts for the family must be new but they do accept gently used furniture and appliances that are needed.

Their Wish Lists:
Five year old girl – Her favorite color is black and her favorite movie is Dora the Explorer.  She wears size 10 shoes and size 5 in pants and shirts.  She needs new shoes and a winter jacket.  On her wish list:  Dora the Explorer dolls and a bicycle.

Eight year old girl – Her favorite color is pink and her favorite movie is Dora the Explorer.  She wears size 11 shoes and size 8 in pants and shirts.  She needs hew shoes and a winter jacket.  On her wish list:  Barbie dolls and a bicycle.

Mother – Her favorite color is red.  Her shoe size is 7 and her shirt size is large and pants size is 12.  She needs clothes to find a new job, needs a pair of winter boots and a winter jacket.

Father – His favorite color is black.  His shoe size is and his shirt size is medium and pant size 32.  He is in need of clothes and  new shoes.

Please let us know what you’re donating in the comments below and we will keep updating the list. If you can send a Christmas Ornament with your gift, that would be wonderful! Does not need to be handmade. Any ornament to put on their tree would be greatly appreciated.
