Vote on one of these charities!!!

VOTING HAS ENDED
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

In an earlier post we asked you to nominate charities to benefit from the LIVE Streaming @ CHA ebay auction.  This is sure to be an amazing event with a goody bag worth $60 that will be shipped to your house before the event!  Grab your crafting friends and join the fun!

It was almost impossible but we narrowed it down to 3 very worthy charities.  All of the other charities that were nominated will be spotlighted in an upcoming newsletter. We want to raise money for them all but since we have to pick one....

Help us choose!!

Covenant House is dedicated to serving children with absolute respect and unconditional love to help suffering homeless kids and to protect and safeguard all children in need.

All of these are very worthy of support, but I would cast my vote for Covenant House. Human Trafficking is horrific.

I vote for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. The ASF helps support families and caregivers dealing with the daily struggles of Angelman Syndrome.

Our kids need you help. They suffer from motor issues, cognitive and developmental delays, and seizures. Research says there is hope for cure!

Please help our kids live better, seizure free lives.

My vote is for Acts of Simple Kindness!!!

No child should experience the death of a parent -- the fear, loss and sadness is overwhelming. ASK helps with the little things that help them get back on their feet.

ASK helps kids of Widows and Widowers pursue programs in extracurricular activities -- the little things that make a BIG difference to a child grieving the death of a parent.

My vote is definitely for Acts of Simple Kindness! When everything else is chaos in a kid's life after the loss of a parent, ASK can help keep a child in music lessons, sports or just take a break and go to art camp. It's definitely the little things that mean a lot!

I'm voting for ASK, as a widow myself i know first hand how much a simple act of kindness can help. its priceless!!

I vote for Acts of Simple Kindness because children grieving the death of a parent need healthy coping tools. Unfortunately many extracurricular activities, like those supported by ASK (music, art, sports etc) are no longer viable for the surviving parent due to limited financial resources. Helping kids maintain a little degree of "normality" after a parent dies is crucial to how they navigate their grief journey.

Unknown said...

ASK is a wonderful nonprofit with the money going to help children who have lost a parent. I full heartedly vote for ASK and will be giving my friends and family the opportunity to do so as well!

AKS (Acts of Simple Kindness) was brought to my attention by Matt Logelin, author of Two Kisses For Maddy. His touching blogs over the past few years have shown me that there are people out there that who do have a hard time after a loss of a loved one. This person may or may not be sick, but they are human beings with real feelings. Things change when we lose a partner or mother/father. Knowing that you're not alone and somebody does understand the way you feel, well, there's nothing like knowing you're not alone. Thank you for being the moral support for others.

I vote for Acts of Simple Kindness. My husband died in March 2010 and I have an 8 year old and a 17 month old. My daughter has been involved in cheerleading that she really enjoyed. She is also receiving tutoring at Sylvan Learning Center to address some issues with reading and has made tremendous strides there. The teacher went from being worried about sending her to the 3rd grade to calling her reading fantastic. I am grateful I was able to take her, but I know of a few children who could probably use Sylvan's services, but cannot afford them. This charity is a wonderful idea.

Unknown said...

Voting for Acts of Simple Kindness,
I am widow, and have a 12 year old with Aspegers. She has many talents. But her main talent is her love of the ARTS, which include singing, band, Art and photography. Many widows cannot afford such things due to the loss of income, and young widows unable to collect widows benefits.

Wise Widowed Parents - Natalie Ryan-Ramirez said...

After my husband died, my "happily ever after" was shattered and my world with my 4 and 6 year old was turned upside down. While trying to find our new "NEW" while attending many grief support groups, I have seen way too many tragedies where death and grief have robbed families of what can still be a beautiful life. Unfortunately, there are not enough programs like ASK in every state. WE did not choose death, death chose our spouse. Please help this wonderful NPO to continue to shine bright in what can be a dark world for widowed families with children still in their care!
