Guest Artist Jonathan Fong: Next Charity Wings Art Center Online Class *UPDATED*

ParisFleaMarketMontage1
Join us for a Paris Flea Market Party with Craft Attitude and Jonathan Fong of Jonathan Fong Style!  He  is our special guest artist for the next Charity Wings Art Center online class on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 6 pm Pacific/9 pm Eastern.  Get your Charity Wings Art Center Virtual Wings Membership starting at only $10 a month so that you can take part in this fun class!

jonathan Jonathan Fong is an interior, floral and crafts designer who turns DIY into D-I-Wow. He hosts the web series Style with a Smile TV as well as DisneyFamily.com’s “He Made She Made.” He is a design expert and contributor for Disney’s Spoonful.com site and eHow. He is also a designer and spokesperson for Craft Attitude, and the author of three books: Walls that Wow, Flowers that Wow, and Parties that Wow. Before Jonathan joined the crafting community, spurred by his addiction to his Sizzix Big Shot, he was an ad man, creating commercials for Acura, Jenny Craig, Boston Market, and Jergens Lotion.

Here are the materials you’ll need so you can start getting ready for the class (UPDATED):
Project: Paris Flea Market Party
Items to purchase:
One 2”x3” mini stretched canvas (or similarly small size) and mini easel (available at most art supply and crafts stores)
Craft Attitude Adhesive Film (listed on Amazon as Scrapbooking Attitude) - you'll need three sheets (available at Amazon.com)

Items you probably have around the house:
One wooden clothespin
One small brown paper bag (i.e. lunch bag or goodie bag:  the smaller paper sacks from Michael's work well.)
One price tag from an article of clothing (the kind with a hole at the end)
One old hardbound book with a plain cover (i.e., with the dust jacket removed)
White duct tape
One clear white wine bottle with label removed (a large soda bottle like the ones at Trader Joe’s is also suitable).
(For all the materials above, lighter colors work best. For example, a black price tag will not work with Craft Attitude because artwork will not show through.)
Other Supplies needed:
Glue stick
Scissors
Spray adhesive (if you are working in a well-ventilated space; otherwise use the glue stick)
Optional materials to finish the look:
Embellishments like buttons, scrapbook papers, trim, etc.

Did you miss out on our first class (it was FREE and open to all so you could see what amazing classes the Art Center will be offering)?

Free online class —make a glittery decoden box! UPDATE!!

 UPDATED INFORMATION:

Kathy Cano-Murillo (aka The Crafty Chica) is the guest artist for our first monthly online class for Virtual Wings members of the Charity Wings Art Center.

And guess what? We've decided to open it up to EVERYONE - you are all welcome to join us online for this first class, members and non-members alike. There will be prize drawings too, so don't miss this class!

It's happening TOMORROW NIGHT (rescheduled from last week due to tech issues), Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 6pm PT (9pm ET) in the Charity Wings Parlour.

They'll be teaching one of Kathy's latest crafty obsessions - glittery decoden. Kathy will show you a twist on this popular Japanese craft...using clear silicone instead of white and adding glitter!

To craft along with them, you'll need the following supplies:

  • DAP Alex clear silicone – you can buy this at most hardware and home improvement stores  Here’s a link to it at Sears so you can see exactly the product she’s referring to.
  • Fine glitter – any craft store will carry this
  • Small trinket box – a plain wooden box, a mint tin, an old compact, any kind of similar item with a flat surface will work – try looking around your house for something you can fix up or head to your local craft or dollar store
  • Assorted miniature items – try craft stores, dollar stores, party supply stores….or raid your kid’s toy box :)
  • Gems/crystals – your local craft store should have some; check your dollar store too
